Jane Morley Hillman

Jane Morley Hillman

Director of Communications

Last year, Jane Hillman walked into a thrift shop in Wyoming and walked out with a vintage Hermes handbag for 75 cents. A couple of weeks later she sold it on Ebay for $750. Jane has a remarkable ability to spot a bargain and do what needs to be done to turn it into a lucrative investment. A good eye, superb research skills, and a wicked sense of humor enable her to spot the silk purse in the sow's ear.

Most recently, she was director of business development for the oldest architectural firm in Washington, DC, where she took the firm to a higher level of profitability with projects that included a 5-year term contract with the Smithsonian Institution for improvements at the National Zoological Park, most notably a new habitat for the pandas.

An accomplished freelance writer, she has written regular columns for the Washington Business Journal and Design/Build magazine, and has published numerous articles in The Washington Post, Architecture magazine, and a variety of scholarly publications.

Her academic background includes an A.B. from Duke University in history and religion, advanced degrees in history and library science from the University of North CarolinaChapel Hill and the history and sociology of science from the University of Pennsylvania.
